 Working with You and Your Referring Veterinarian

Our goal is to serve our referring veterinarians by working closely with them to provide the highest quality and most cohesive care for your pet.  Whether your pet needs continued care after spending the day with your regular veterinarian, treatment after hours, surgery or long term care, the Animal Emergency Clinic will be there to assist you and your animal. We will remain in contact with your referring veterinarian to manage any and all changes that may occur during your pet's stay.  You and your regular veterinarian will also receive a copy of the complete medical record after each visit to our hospital.  We understand that your pet is an important member of your family and deserves the best possible medical care and at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Central Texas we will work hard to provide that. 

What is a Referral Patient?

Referrals clients are those sent directly from their regular veterinarian to our hospital for continued care. Since your pet has been under the direct care of your referring veterinarian, the exam fee is reduced and called a referral exam. Your referring veterinarian will fill out a referral sheet documenting all treatments that have been done and that still need to be done and they will also send you with other relevant documents such as blood work results and/or radiographs.

Upon arriving at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Central Texas, your pet may be immediately triaged to the back treatment area to be examined by one of our veterinarians.  The veterinarian will than discuss with you the details of overnight care, treatments and the cost of the care. If possible and at the veterinarian's discretion you will be able to visit your pet prior to your leaving. All of our patients stay in cages that are visible from the entire treatment area and they are given warm, comfortable bedding. Patients needing isolation are kept in a seperate ward to prevent the spread of diseases.
